Thank you for visiting my Children's Champion page!
I'm excited to announce that I will be competing in my first full marathon on October 17th, 2021: the Nationwide Children's Hospital (NCH) Columbus Marathon.
The purpose of the NCH Columbus Marathon is to raise funds that support the advancement of pediatric research and care. A unique aspect of the NCH Columbus Marathon is that at every mile to support runners throughout the race, there is a pediatric patient—a Patient Champion—that received life-saving or life-altering care at NCH in the past. My nephew, Killian Madrid, was a Patient Champion at a previous NCH marathon, which has provided me with further inspiration to fundraise for this cause and cross the finish line.
Killian was born prematurely at 25 weeks, and was treated for more than 100 days in the NCH Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) following his birth. His treatment was ultimately a success, and now today, Killian is a strong and fierce 11 year old and the eldest amongst his 3 other brothers—Rocco, Ignatius (Iggy), and Nico. You can read more about Killian's care and the experience of my sister, Nina (Killian's mother), and her husband, Tim (Killian's father), here: https://flutter.nationwidechildrens.org/killians-story/
Please join me in supporting the institution that saved the life of Killian and has transformed the lives of countless children and families across the United States. Any donation, no matter the size, will go towards promoting one of the most meaningful marathons in the country.
