Welcome to My Personal Page-Stephanie Petrie
Thank you for visiting my Children's Champion page. Did you know the purpose of the Nationwide Children's Hospital Columbus Marathon & ½ Marathon is to raise funds to support life-saving research and care? Nationwide Children’s Hospital is committed to treating all children regardless of their family’s ability to pay, which cannot be achieved without community support and generosity. I am participating in the race for this mission and I am determined to help children from all 50 states and more than 60 countries treated at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Won’t you join me in helping kids everywhere?
Please consider supporting the most meaningful marathon in the country by making a donation today.
I have committed to run my very first 1/2 marathon! I have never run this much- each week training is a new PR:) With each mile, I think of how hard it is for Hudson to do all the amazing things he does. How when he walks it feels he is in quick sand. But, it NEVER stops him. He is thriving, striving and so resilient!!!
Please consider sponsoring us! Our runs, our miles, our love! We appreciate any support!
I am mommy to Hudson Petrie, an adorable, lovable and brave little boy. Hudson was born with a rare (roughly 15000 icases in the US) syndrome called Prader Willi Syndrome. At birth we were terrified as our expected 8+ pound baby was not at all close to 8lbs. Hudson had a difficult exit from my C-Section and when my doctor was able to finally free him from the umbilical cord he was tiny, barely breathing and only clocked in at 5lbs 13oz! He was limp, purple and needed to be bagged right away. Thankfully we gathered cord blood for testing but the future looked grim.
On day 4, we received a preliminary diagnosis from Nationwide Children's Genetics lab of Prader Willi Syndrome. Some people wait weeks, months and overseas they wait YEARS to get a diagnosis. What a blessing to know and be able to start to treat him. Better yet, there was a Prader Willi Clinic RIGHT HERE IN COLUMBUS, OH.
We were transported by mobile ICU to Nationwide Children's on Day 8. Shortly thereafter the head of the PWS Clinic came to visit me in the NICU and see Hudson. It was a relief to know we had support. I vowed that day to support them and the other families as well.
When you support us, you support everyone. Without a day 4 diagnosis, without the specialists, without the nurses who fought insurance to get us needed medicines, interventions and more - Hudson's future wouldn't look so bright.
With you and your donation, we can send the team to more trainings, attract more research here in Columbus, OH. Help many families get the care they need. Please join our movement- God Bless you!
