Jodi and I are running the Nationwide Children's Hospital Columbus Half Marathon this year, and once again we’ll be running as Children’s Champions to raise money for the hospital. We were inspired to fund raise again after Shannon's most recent visit to the Audiology department at Children's for some new hearing aids. Shannon has worn hearing aids since she was three months old, and the Audiology department has provided fantastic support to all of us since day one. 

People don't realize that most health insurance plans don't cover hearing aids, even for kids. Some plans (like ours) provide partial coverage, but families can still be left with a significant out of pocket cost. Unfortunately that expense can be a barrier to care for some kids. The ability to hear is critical for a child's development, and no child should be left behind because of cost.
