Thank you for visiting my Children's Champion page.
I have worked at Children's for over 15 years and I consider myself thankful and incredibly blessed. I am surrounded by a team and department that supports one another, encourages each other, and works hard to make a difference in the lives of our patients and families every day. We work hard to support new parents as they begin their parenting journey because we believe that all families and children deserve the best possible start in their lives.
My running journey began in 2023, after I learned that I had been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. I realized that my overall health and physical wellness was not where I wanted it to be, and the choices I was making were catching up to me. During the pandemic, I had participated in several 5k events where I walked on my own. I never imagined that I could run a 5k, and really hadn't given it much thought until I was encouraged that I could probably run an event. In February 2023, I ran my first ever 5k. And then I did my first quarter marathon in June followed by my first half marathon in August of that year.
This will be my FIRST EVER full marathon and I'm hoping only to finish and celebrate that achievement. More than anything, I am looking forward to bringing together the passions and interests from my work along with the new excitement and joy I get from running into one incredible event and experience. But it's the mile champions and the patients and families that they represent that I'm so excited about in this event.
