Maddie was born in July 2015 with rare birth defects impacting her digestive system. She has been a patient at Nationwide Children’s Hospital since she was 2 months old when we first met Dr. Wood in the CCPR clinic. Dr. Richard Wood and his team performed 2 major surgeries before Maddie was 8 months old. The CCPR team provides continuous follow up care for Maddie both in person and long distance. Without the knowledge of her surgeons, the CCPR team, and staff throughout the hospital, Maddie would not have the same outcomes she has today. She has surpassed everyones’ expectations. Maddie loves sports. She has found a passion and drive for ice hockey, and always has a huge smile on her face when she is on the ice. During the summer, she also participates in swim team. Maddie is fiercely competitive. Academically, she enjoys and shows a strength in math and problem solving. Maddie loves helping and playing with younger children. She is incredibly kind and empathetic.
