A matching gift is a charitable donation by a corporation that matches an employee’s donation to an eligible nonprofit organization, most often dollar for dollar. Thousands of companies offer matching gift programs to their employees as part of a corporate giving philanthropy. It's an easy way to double or even triple your contribution to us!

Volunteer grant programs are corporate giving programs in which companies provide monetary donations to organizations where employees volunteer regularly. If you volunteer with us, it's an easy way to provide us with additional financial support!

What counts as volunteer work?
Activities eligible for volunteer grants may include:

• Event Volunteering

• Skill-based Volunteering

• Volunteer Committees

• Administrative Volunteering

• Log into your company's matching gift submission website (if you use the Double the Donation search tool, click on “Go to Matching Gift Form” once you find your company).

• Once logged in, search for Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

• Register the donation and submit the completed matching gift request to your employer.

• The employer will validate that the original donation is eligible to be matched according to internal guidelines and will send a donation to Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Yes, a matching donation form can be mailed to us. Please send your matching gift form from your employer and include the date and amount of the donation made to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The employee should complete the matching gift form according to the company’s donation matching instructions, sign, and date. If you are the spouse of the matching gift company’s employee, please include your spouse’s name.

Matching Gift guidelines are established by each company, so you will need to check with your employer. Deadlines for submitting a matching gifts claim vary from 30 days from gift date to more than one year from the gift date.

If a company doesn’t approve a matching gift, the company will contact both the employee and the organization with the reason the match was rejected. Frequently a match is rejected because a company’s matching gift program has specified programs that Nationwide Children’s does not provide, such as higher education programs, environmental programming, animal welfare, hunger relief, etc. A donation match may be rejected if the donation amount isn’t within the matching gift program parameters specified by the company.

It varies for each company. If your employer’s matching gift program approves the donation match, the company will send their employer match according to the company guidelines directly to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. You may contact the company directly to find out how often matching gift payments are processed.
