Shine Like Rainbows

Please join our team help us support Nationwide Children's Hospital and the legacy of Allison Lynn Conover. All proceeds raised will support the Neurology Department at Nationwide.

Allie, was born in 2011. She was perfect, and we were immediately in love with her. Allie was a headstrong, stubborn, temperamental, loving, smart, hilarious, and wonderful child. She was a totally typical kid.

In 2015, Allie was diagnosed with Arteriovenous Fistula (AVF). Blood had no problem getting to her brain, but it could not get out. Instead it circled around and around which caused a traffic jam in the blood flow. Allie had a major (8 hour) brain surgery. Her recovery was a breeze, and she was soon back to her fun, outgoing, playful self.

However, in 2016, Allie required several short hospitalizations due to complications from the AVF. Just before Christmas in 2016, Allie had a seizure. The cause of the seizure was immediately clear after a CT scan. Allie had a bleed on the right side of her brain. She was rushed to emergency surgery to remove part of her skull to allow her brain to swell.

After the surgery, Allie faced setback after setback. The bleed caused damage to her brain, and Allie continued to have seizures. Allie sustained significant damage to multiple parts of her brain, but most notably, the brainstem.

On March 29, 2017, Allie passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Allie holds a permanent place in all of our hearts and not a day goes by that we don't think of her. We want to keep her spirit alive and are running the mini marathon for her.

We are determined to make each step count by fundraising to cure, mend, comfort and save the kids, like Allie, who will walk through the hospital doors this year.  Your contribution helps kids everywhere through life-saving research and care.  Please consider a gift of any amount.
